The Abbotsford School District is pleased to announce Steve Stobbe's appointment as the new IT Director, effective December 1, 2025. 

Steve is a familiar face to many in Abbotsford. He previously served as Manager of IT Infrastructure from 2020 to 2023 before moving to the Surrey School District, where he took on the role of Director of Cybersecurity. His return to Abbotsford reflects a strong alignment between his expertise and the District’s vision for secure, efficient, and innovative learning environments.

Get ready for winter at home and in the community

Abbotsford Senior Secondary students recently earned 41 medals, including more than 20 gold, after competing at the prestigious World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions (TOC) at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut!

The students qualified for the TOC by advancing through the Regional Round in Vancouver and the Global Round in Bangkok, placing them among the top 15 per cent of teams worldwide. This year’s tournament brought together approximately 500 teams from more than 70 countries to compete in Debate, Writing, the Scholar’s Challenge and the Scholar’s Bowl.

Students at Dr. Thomas A. Swift Elementary demonstrated meaningful compassion and peer support during a school-wide, student-led “Break the Rules Day” fundraiser in support of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

In the spirit of Remembrance Day, students at Mt. Lehman Elementary wrote and decorated over 100 handwritten letters to Canadian soldiers serving overseas.

During a special school presentation on November 7, students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 sang O Canada, stood for The Last Post, and proudly shared their cards with Sgt. David Scrivens of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Abbotsford School of Integrated Arts (ASIA) - Sumas Mountain held a moving Remembrance Day assembly honouring the sacrifices of Canadian soldiers and those affected by war. Students from across the grades presented visual and performing arts projects, including hand-crafted poppy displays, clay sculptures inspired by In Flanders Fields, and black-and-white imagery reflecting the themes of remembrance.
