The board celebrated the Abbotsford School District's wrestling team, who became provincial champions for the second year in a row. Coach Jim Mitchell and Principal Rob Sloboda introduced the team and highlighted their achievements.
Principal Erica Hopkins and teacher Amardeep Bhullar presented the new Grade 5 Punjabi Language class. Students demonstrated their learning by teaching the board members some Punjabi words and playing a bingo game.
Principal Jacqui Hall provided a brief update on this year’s Student Voice Survey, highlighting key insights from students. Grade 9 students, Haley, Sky, and Aaliyah, shared their positive experiences at Bakerview Centre for Learning, showcasing the supportive environment and career opportunities provided by the school.
Superintendent Nosek shared the good news of district staff being recognized in the "Heroes in Education" feature by the Abbotsford News.
The superintendent provided a brief update on the correspondence received.
Secretary-Treasurer/CFO, Ray Velestuk, and Superintendent, Sean Nosek, presented the preliminary budget estimates for the 2025-2026 school year.
The board approved a motion to sponsor the Skills Canada luncheon for $2,500, continuing their support for the event.
Trustee Rauch provided a notice of motion to amend Policy 6 Appendix 1 regarding the Trustee Code of Ethics.
